VAMPIRE
Take the pain, take the pleasure
I’m the master of both
Close your eyes, not your mind
Let me into your soul
I’m a work it ‘till your totally blown
No escaping when I start
Once I’m in I own your heart
There’s no way you’ll ring the alarm
So hold on ‘till it’s over!
Take the pain, take the pleasure
I’m the master of both
Close your eyes, not your mind
Let me into your soul
I’m a work it ‘till your totally blown
No escaping when I start
Once I’m in I own your heart
There’s no way you’ll ring the alarm
So hold on ‘till it’s over!
PERSONAL INFORMATION
Draven is very much the predator one would expect a vampire to be and seems to carry with him, an almost lullaby-like or hypnotic air; his gate is smooth, his voice is rough yet sleepy, and his appearance dark and mysterious. This charm about him is very much a supernatural one and a result of having been alive so for long and possessing an aura so to speak, that far outdates his appearance. To humans, he may seem simply like a very attractive guy who looks a little too ‘perfect’ for his age and is surrounded by mystery which has them both interested and possibly even wary. To other supernatural creatures or beings that can tell what he is, his true age isn’t difficult to figure out or give a guess at as when you’ve been around as long as he has, it tends to show in ways humans most likely wouldn’t pick up (such as aura or simply the ‘feel’ he gives off or even his scent). You could easily compare Draven to a cobra or a wolf even as just like either, he can grab the attention of most and can seem like a beautiful and uncanny creature but also fear inducing and dangerous as well.
NICKNAME:: Draven
AGE::Eternally 19 (He’s actually over 400 years old and appears to be somewhere from his late teens to early twenties)
GENDER:: Male
OCCUPATION::Student
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION::Draven Van Persie is played by: Stephan James
Since the time he has woken from his slumber, Draven has drastically changed his appearance in order to blend in as well as simply because he had grown a liking for the style. His hair was once long and worn in a loose ponytail and his face was a bit scruffy from letting his facial hair grow out but he has since cut most of his hair off and kept it at a decent length and now is typically clean shaven or with a bit of 2 O’clock shadow. His hair is still the natural black it has been since his human years but now reaches just past his jaw line and down his neck a bit at length and worn in a messy and almost grungy way (sometimes he slicks it back messily or simply goes with how it looks when he rolls out of bed). Seeing as he has been asleep for roughly three hundred years and has been avoiding the sun for over four hundred, he has long since lost the tan he had as a farmer so long ago and now his complexion is almost too pale. He typically feeds before going out into public and around humans so he appears more alive considering that especially under Florissant light, his skin might look almost grey tinted and also to give his skin some warmth as with age, he has become colder to the touch. His eyes are a deep blue, a once natural color which is now slightly off from the spectrum of natural human eye color and which can be your first and most obvious clue he isn’t exactly human if you are, unless of course he’s already taken the initiative of digging his fangs into your flesh.
When hungry, experiencing intense emotion or simply showing off, he can take on a much more monstrous appearance which shows the true nature of what he is. When this happens, his face pales slightly and blood rushes to the veins surrounding his eyes, causing a grotesque reaction of reddening the whites of his eyes and the immediate area about his eyes. His retractable fangs being two on the top row of his teeth and two on the bottom (the first and longest where his canines are and the second and smaller pair being where the teeth next to his two front teeth are). The angrier and hungrier he is, the more his face will change and take on a more monstrous look as the veins about his eyes may span out more and become darker, and the rest of his face may contort in small but frightening ways which make him appear more angry and or predatory (such as the crease between his eyebrows and the very top of the bridge of his nose and around his eyes becoming more prominent as well and shadow about his face darkening (nothing too crazy such as bones shifting but just a darker/less human look).
SPECIES INFORMATION
VAMPIRE
Type: Made
Daylighter:
Diet: Draven is what you could call a ‘picky eater’ and a ‘binge drinker’. He started off on human blood and anything less than fresh, warm and straight from the vein of a living, breathing human writhing under his grasp, doesn’t quite do it for him. Though he is considerably old as a vampire, he still has an insatiable thirst for blood and has only recently started binging the way he does and has since become hooked to the thrill of the hunt and the taste of human. Obviously, blood bags and animals can’t offer the same type of hunt as a human can and it is that type of hunt Draven craves. His prey has to be able to scream after all, or offer a night of fun before the main course and even be useful to him otherwise. Though he detests animal blood; it’s diluted compared to humans and not as sweet, like the off-brand of your favorite soda, he will stoop to that level if he needs in order to survive to get his next real meal. He would go for blood bags before animals however; it may be cold and chilling on the tongue but it’s still human.
As someone who doesn’t care much for rules, or at all, Draven could certainly be considered an illegal hunter, and a greedy one at that. Though he’s not exactly a master at it, he’s typically fairly good at hiding this when he’s trying to blend in or purposely making it obvious there’s a binge drinker on the loose taking anyone and everyone they please, just to cause trouble. Seeing as he’s currently trying to fit into this town however, he will be a little more discreet about it…for now (he has taken to getting away with 'the little drink' from several victims to sustain himself (basically this is just taking a small amount from someone, healing the wound and compelling them to forget about it) as well as going to blood banks and donors between his binges . Though, being new to indulging as he has been (considering he used to live off animals and the blood of those he deemed 'evil', such as humans who commit crimes like theft and murder),and having just woken up after a three hundred year long slumber, he doesn’t have the restraint he once did and is very capable of slipping and being tempted by an accidental open wound or the closeness of intoxicating human flesh. Going too long without a little to keep himself satisfied could easily result in an uncontrollable binge and the death of anywhere between two to five or so, humans to cease the hunger for him to gain control or come back to his senses.
PERSONALITY INFORMATION
LIKES::
-Blood: Of course Draven absolutely loves and is addicted to blood. What vampire isn’t?
- Sex: As a very flirtatious, sexual and predatory individual, sex is undoubtedly one of Draven’s favorite past times. It doesn’t matter to him, who or what he hops under the sheets with as long as they can offer a good time and an easy meal afterward.
- Alcohol/coffee/smoking: As good as they taste and/or feel, these three things are one of the easiest ways to help curve his hunger other than blood. That, and Draven just plain likes to drink and get drunk for fun.
- Partying: What’s better than sex, blood and alcohol? Well a party of course! Especially those sorority parties full of half-dressed, sex crazed blood bags downing alcohol. An easy and fairly discreet way for some fun and a great meal. (His absolute favorite type of blood comes from the jugular of someone who has had a little too much to drink; an amazing combination of his favorite drinks).
- Challenges/spontaneity: Draven is nothing short of a predator and what predator doesn’t like a good challenge? He becomes bored easily with submissive types who don’t give him a run for his money so to speak. Whether it’s his next meal or plaything or both, Draven enjoys being kept on his toes and having to fight for what he wants. Along with this, he loves spontaneity and anything that sways from the ordinary or from a routine life.
DISLIKES::
- Not getting what he wants: Though he loves a good challenge, he’s a bit of a sore loser and not a very ‘good sport’. This mainly goes for things that are more trivial than say, a contest of some type, such as not being able to effectively wheedle information out of someone or simply to have his way with someone. After all, what good is a challenge if he can’t have what he wants when it’s all said and done?
- Submissive people who don’t fight back: Draven typically won’t prey on someone who looks as though their life is already falling apart and they have no fight in them. He wants to be the one to make their life fall apart, to break down what fight they do have left and to completely destroy them mentally before killing them. Otherwise there’s no fun in hunting. (Not that he tortures every single one of his victims but when he’s aiming to, he aims high).
- Feeling insecure or as though he is losing control: As a controlling, possessive and dominating personality, Draven absolutely hates to feel as though he is losing control of either a situation, a person or even his own human emotions. This also goes for feeling insecure as it makes him feel weak and less in control.
- Bright lights/sunlight: Being that Draven has yet to acquire a ring that allows him to walk in the sun, he is stuck coming out only at night and considering he isn’t used to bright light such as the sun, other light that mimics it such as Florissant light can bother his eyes and be uncomfortable.
- His past and the memories that come with it: He refrains from speaking about his past and would rather leave it as that, the past. In truth, it still gets to him that his mentor left him alone like he did and it does piss him off from time to time and serve to back some of the dumb things he does.
POSITIVE::
- Independent: He can handle himself fairly well on his own and is pretty self reliant. Though he has been asleep as long as he had, he has been awake for over a hundred years and was taught by his mentor and friend, how to survive and watch out for other species such as witches that may be capable of harming/killing him. He has common sense and street smarts, even if he may make himself out to be dumb at times (he isn't very well educated when it comes to typical school knowledge since he was homeschooled as a kid and times have definitely changed since then but he hasn't had the interest to update his knowledge of such things as math, science and etc).
- Playful/adventurous: Draven is all about the fun and doesn’t like to focus on the serious aspects of life as he once did in the past. This can both be a good and bad thing as he’s very open to trying new things, can be fun-loving when he wants to be and knows how to have a good time but leads to him being very irresponsible.
- Brave: When it comes down to it, most if not all of Draven’s fears are more of inner conflicts than of anything that constitutes his life or health. He can easily shut out any fear and human emotions that would keep someone from doing something dangerous, be it something general and stupid or something heroic. (Though the latter is highly unlikely from Draven).
- Understanding: Though everything about Draven may make this seem like an impossibility, he can be very understanding if he wants to be.
- Loyal and protective: If you somehow wheedle your way into Draven’s heart, you’ll find he can be a fiercely loyal and protective friend/lover
NEGATIVE::
- No sense of decency/shame: Draven is the type of person that can walk down the street completely nude and feel comfortable doing it. He almost never gets embarrassed which could be considered a good thing but isn’t since it’s likely not to ever be. Don’t be surprised if you catch him taking a piss with the door wide open, walking out from a shower to greet you without a towel on, stripping down at a party because he thought it would be fun, openly talking about inappropriate things with just about anyone or even ‘going to town’ with someone in a public area.
- Crazy/dangerous/destructive: It’s pretty safe to say that Draven is a bit insane and most definitely not mentally stable.
- Aggressive: Draven isn’t necessarily an angry person as most of what he does is done for simple fun but he can become very aggressive and violent when angered or with any other heightened emotion such as arousal.
- Sarcastic/rude/cruel: When not feeding on or torturing someone, Draven is nearly always rude toward others, sarcastic and purposefully/teasingly cruel to them. Or he’s just down right an asshole.
- Possessive/prone to jealousy: Draven can be pretty possessive with what he believes to be is and can become jealous easily if said possession is messed with by anyone else.
FEARS::
- For someone to see outside of his ‘acting out’ and/or for them to break down that barrier he has built up around him to shield himself from his human emotions.
- To fall in love or become attached to someone as he fears being abandoned again and possibly harming them.
GOALS::
- Draven doesn't really have any goals in life or well, his after-life or undead life and simply just does what he does mostly without any real rhyme or reason to it. (Subject to change later on)
HOBBIES::
-Draven doesn’t have any true hobbies; he doesn’t collect anything, play any sports, he refuses to even touch a paint brush now and doesn’t in duldge in anything that could really be considered a hobby. Unless you count hunting down victims to feed off of or making an ass of himself, a hobby.
HABITS::
- Smoking: Much like alcohol and coffee, smoking is another way Draven deals with the seemingly unquenchable hunger he has and also helps to calm his nerves and keep him from snapping.
- Drinking alcohol and blood in excess: This is both a hobbie and a habit for Draven as he not only does it for fun and pleasure but to ‘drown his sorrows’ or ‘nurse his wounds’ so to speak and can easily become reckless during times like that.
GENERAL:: Draven is a very dark individual and nearly everything about him from his appearance and the rough timber of his voice to the way he holds his cigarette and how his eyes seem to drink in everything around him, screams predator. That is the perfect word to describe the monster that is Draven Van Persie and that is something he knows very well about himself and isn’t afraid to exploit it. In fact, he quite enjoys doing just that and often times has a twisted humor in which he does. Much like a child prodding at a dead body with a stick or torturing ants with a magnifying glass, Draven absolutely loves to mess with people and push their buttons in any and every way he can. Be it a simple prank, insult, physically bullying them or torturing them and killing them, Draven finds fun in all of it. You see, he is a firm believer in that innocence doesn’t exist and everyone has a monster in them. It is that monster that Draven loves to bring out in people; to make them realize that deep down they’re just as bad as he is. It’s something of a game to him; to see how far it takes to push a person before that monster comes to light and before they come to the horrific realization of it. That whole saying of ‘if the world wants a monster, I’ll give it to them’, could very much be used to describe Draven as that is exactly his mind set on who and what he is. He had no choice in becoming the undead nightmare that he is and everything he has gone through in life has proved his theory of the world and the people that inhabit it and so he has completely given up on trying to be the ‘good guy’ and justifies his actions by claiming it is in his nature and everyone else’s as well, only he readily acts on it and doesn’t fight it or hide it like the rest of society.
“It’s the real monsters like me that make the evil that creeps in every single soul justifiable in their own minds. But baby, evil is evil and when it comes down to it, there aint no difference between me or anyone else, only the fact that I dun run and hide from my monsters…I embrace them.”
Over the fifty years he has been awake since his prolonged slumber, Draven has used whatever and whoever he can get his hands on in order to get what he wants; not caring about who he has hurt in the process and to this day, he continues to do so. As such, he is the only person he cares about and even then, he doesn’t truly care but even still, comes off as incredibly self-absorbed, selfish, proud, and arrogant and carries an unsentimental attitude toward others. He doesn’t seem to take life or anything too seriously as he can be rather careless and impulsive, doing what he wants when he wants without any disregard to anything including his own safety. Going along with this, Draven has absolutely no discretion when it comes to anything and no shame either and simply doesn’t seem to care about anything; consequences (which he actually embraces most of the time), what others think, etc). That being said, he wouldn’t give a second thought to killing someone in front of an audience, wouldn’t have a problem walking down the street completely nude for whatever reason or ‘going to town’ with someone in an open and public area. In fact, he enjoys any attention brought to him by any otherwise inappropriate acts that can be pulled in public and revels in the reactions of others be them good or bad.
In terms of romance, Draven is a very intense, passionate, lustful and sexual lover, having a practical, selfish, dark and strong view and approach to his love affairs. However, he is prone to jealousy, possessiveness and obsessiveness when it comes to relationships as he can be extremely selfish with them and desire only to possess the other person be it for sex or food and be them male or female or something in between. A relationship in Draven’s eyes is simply an easy ticket to a plaything he can use to answer to all of his desires; sex, blood and more sex. Usually these affairs don’t last long at all if they make it past a one night stand as Draven tends to eat those he sleeps with and even if they manage to last longer than a night, he is either completely through with them or keeps them around as a toy and just like a dog with a bone, they’re devoured eventually. Draven has no real concept of love and doesn’t believe it exists because he has never experienced it. Mostly that is due to locking away his human emotions in favor of his blood lust and his predatory state of mind. Though he is a very attractive guy and might catch your attention in other ways, it’s best to steer clear of him as you’ll most likely only wind up becoming his lunch or his next toy for the following week until he decides he’s done with you.
On the flip side, and buried far far underneath all of the blood, death and cruelty that shapes his personality, is another side of Draven. Draven harbors a lot of hate, anger and emotional pain that he has shoved so far to the back of his mind and kept there for so long that it has quite literally eaten away at his sanity. Though he has come far from who he was once and so far away from humanity, there is still a distraught child trapped somewhere behind all of it; a lonely, broken boy screaming for help, for understanding, for a release from the lonliness and self-hate that pushes him to do the things he does. However, what does show through the cracks of the barrier he’s built up around himself, he covers up by becoming even crueler to those around him and distracting himself with anything he can; sexual endeavors, adrenaline stimulants, alcohol, binging on blood, etc.
HISTORY
FAMILY::
Geerard Van Persie- Deceased
Anca Van Persie- Deceased
PLACE OF ORIGIN:: Romania
HISTORY:: Draven was born in Romania in the year 1450 to a middle aged couple who have been trying desperately to conceive; a Dutch man name Geerard and a Romanian woman named Anca. After many failures, they finally succeeded in becoming pregnant with a little boy they were going to name Draven Van Persie; his last name taken after his father and his first name, an old English name. The baby however, was nearly lost when Anca went through premature labor but they managed to save him. Despite that, it was deemed he wouldn’t live long after birth, and Anca and Geerard were devastated and stayed, worryingly by his side and as his breathing would fade to a stop until he woke with a crying start and began breathing again. It went like this for weeks, with the small infant teetering back and forth on the line between life and death. That is, until one day a miracle happened upon them, or so the couple believed, as when they woke one day, their baby boy was breathing just fine and all signs of sickness were completely gone. After this, Draven grew up as a perfectly healthy child, his sudden recovery a complete mystery to the doctors and his parents. Of course there were accusations of it being the work of witchcraft and other such ‘nonsense’ but it was chalked up to being a miracle. From the time he could walk, Draven was started in on learning how to care for the farm and helped out with feeding the animals, collecting eggs and other such things until he was old enough to handle more physically demanding tasks. Along with farm work, Draven was homeschool by his mother and so the majority of his human life was spent inside that small farmhouse of theirs and out working the fields. Draven was a sweet kid who enjoyed helping out and spending time with his parents and was even what you could call a ‘momma’s boy’ as he was very close to Anca but also looked up to his father as well. Life was good as far as Draven knew it, and as long as he had his parents they could push through the difficult times that were to come with the taxation being held over their heads and the demands of one Vlad Tepes who was the current ruler.
That is, until the night their house caught fire and everything Draven knew and loved in life was quite literally destroyed. His parents had died in that fire, their house was completely burned to the ground and there was nothing left of their happy little life there. The cause of the fire was unknown and how Draven managed to not only escape but survived through the night with the burns he received and the damage his lungs took from the smoke, was unknown as well. Completely oblivious to what had happened, Draven woke several days later to find himself in a hospital and in critical condition. No one knew who had brought him in and no one knew if he would survive as his body was being pushed past its limits trying to heal itself from the crippling damage that was done. Being in critical condition, Draven constantly wavered in and out of consciousness; when awake he could cry over the death of his parents and beg to be told what happened only to pass out for the rest of the day and wake the next, just as delirious as he was the first night he was brought in. All throughout this time, he kept getting a visitor, an odd and unknown man who would come by only at night and wouldn’t speak to Draven who was only aware of him being there half the time he actually was. When Draven would ask about the man, the doctors would come up blank however and his mysterious visitor was left as just that, a mystery. He had tried to speak to him a few times but never got an answer, he remembers having a hand laid gently on his shoulder, his covers being fixed over him during a cold night and odd little things like that from the man but nothing that told him who he was and Draven wasn’t sure if he was real or not. These memories of this odd man are the first of Draven’s current memories and are very fuzzy and almost non-existent but anything before that has long since been lost to him.
Draven’s health only steadily declined from there, until he was on the brink of death. Fast, his world was plummeting into darkness but the next he knew and the first true memory he has of his supernatural life is waking up in a dark and warm place. He was lying seemingly peaceful upon a fancy bed in a room larger than any he had stepped foot in before, weak and barley alive. He was later confronted by the very same young man that had been visiting him on his death bed and he was given his first taste of the sweet elixir that has become his daily diet. To this day, Draven can still remember how he savored the taste; how indescribable it was and how unlike anything he had ever tasted was. Unknown and still unknown to Draven, this young man had actually been the cause of the house fire. It was after he had made a meal of Draven’s parents as well as Draven himself. He planned to burn the house and the bodies along with it to hide the truth of what had happened but the boy had somehow survived the attack and was still clinging on to life. Initially, he had planned to leave Draven for dead but he couldn’t stomach the sound of him suffering as he was making his leave. Though, burning himself in the process, he scooped the teen up and carried him to the nearest hospital, leaving the house and the bodies inside to burn to the ground. Still being very new to the blood at the time, the young man had lost control of himself and still being very human in his emotions, he couldn’t handle the thought of a boy just a few years younger than himself, suffering like that. This young man, who Draven learned went by the name of Emil, healed Draven by way of having him ingest his blood. He was planning on simply healing him and helping him get on his feet as way of an apology for what he’d done but as most plans go, it didn’t quite end up according to what Emil wanted.
A small coven of vampires all stemming from Vlad Tepes himself, just as Emil was, caught onto what Emil was doing. Believing vampires to be superior to humans, this group thought that if Emil cared enough to save this human, he should turn him. So, the two were jumped one night, only a few days after Draven recovered and when he was supposed to be getting on his own again. A few out of the group attacked Draven and while two held Emil back and made him watch. They had practically tore Draven to shreds, bled him near dry and once again, for the third time in his short life, Draven was hanging onto life by a thread. That is, until the bleeding wrist of Emil was forced by the two holding him, to Draven’s lips and he was feebly and stubbornly fighting against it. All the while he was being taunted for how stubborn he was and stupid for not giving up and giving in. In order to get him to open his mouth, they held his nose and cut off his air supply and soon enough, he was involuntarily gasping for air and simultaneously inhaling blood, gagging on it and trying to cough it up until they decided he ingested enough and snapped his neck. The next he woke and Draven found himself free of all injuries given to him the night before and was soon being thrust into a world of pain. Terrified of the monster he would become if he acted on the hunger that plagued his every fiber, Draven refused any blood offered to him by Emil and suffered through the agonizing pain that came as a result. He had chosen death over becoming a monster like those that had attacked and taunted him and had become afraid and accusing of the vampire Emil. What were to be his last hours was spent yelling at Emil as he tried to persuade him to complete the process and apologized for what had happened. Draven didn’t die that day as he was willing to do and instead, his fate as an eternal nineteen year old was sealed. Emil had left to feed, leaving Draven to endure his fate alone but still being a young vampire and having a lack of control, Emil didn’t make it out the door of the place they were staying before attacking one of the tenants. Being just down the hall from the room Draven was in, he could easily catch the scent of the woman’s blood and with as hungry as he was, he was instantly drawn to the scene. Having practically drug himself down the hallway, he soon found himself within biting distance of Emil’s victim and he didn’t realize the horror of what he had done until it was far too late.
Emil and Draven stayed together after this; Emil teaching Draven what he could of how to survive without being found out and the perks and downfalls of being a vampire, and Draven, shakily at first, learning the ropes. That is, until the two ran into another group of vampires who turned out to be completely different from the one Emil came from as they were against the notion that vampires are superior and against Vlad’s rule. The two joined this group as safety came with numbers and this group became Draven’s family and Emil, a very close friend. There was an elder amongst the group who originated several hundred years back; he taught the group how to be mindful of their powers and to respect humanity. Years later, when Draven should have been a middle aged man and after many fights with the opposing vampires, the group had formulated a plan to over throw Vlad Tepes. However, Tepes caught wind of this plan and had gathered a larger group to fight back. There was no true winner to the battle as Vlad has survived but fled Romania with his followers and far too many died on the other side to call it a true victory. Draven had been injured in the battle and Emil was thought to have been killed. The few that survived spanned out on their own in order to take over Romania as their own and wheedle their way into the government and highly respect positions in order to do so. Draven however, tagged along with the ancient vampire as he left on his own and who at first, was opposed to Draven following him but gave up on trying to get him to stay behind. The place the ancient had left for was a church just outside the border of Romania that he had once made his sanctuary and came back to every so often. The two had spent many years together, growing close and loving one another in a father to son relationship, or mentor and apprentice even. Much like he had to his birth father, Draven looked up to this vampire who had lived so many years longer than he had and admired his wisdom and what he knew of the world and those that inhabited it. He was taught not only of history which was never recorded, several languages and all manner of information and secrets he had gathered throughout his life, but how to appreciate the art of painting. At first Draven found it tedious, boring and not worth his time as he wanted to know more of past wars and where vampires came from and other such information but the ancient was adamant to teach him to paint. Draven didn't understand it but eventually gave up trying to and instead gave in to giving it a try. After years of failures and sloppy renditions, Draven did indeed come to adore painting and what could be created by it. This adoration became an attachment as he spent much of his time decorating the old church with delicate paintings of angels and scenery and finally came to realize the lesson his mentor was trying to teach him. The lesson was to appreciate this life he has been given and to see the world as a beautiful thing, to not damn himself as a monster and to instead, enjoy it as an extension of his human life. This was a lesson Draven took to heart but a lesson that had eventually become twisted in his understanding.
You see, the ancient vampire had long since, after the two had spent many many years together, decided to end his own life and free himself from immortality. He had chosen Draven to pass his knowledge to, believing at the time, that he was the perfect suitor to keep the beauty of mortality alive within the stale life that immortality can bring. This was a surprise to Draven and after learning of his death, that he had willingly stepped out into light of the sun without even so much as a goodbye, Draven nearly gave up himself. It wasn’t long before the starting rapid changes of humanity and the loneliness really got to him however. Painting wasn’t enough anymore and without his companion, he grew desperate and sad and felt a complete disconnection with humanity. He had quite literally dug himself a grave in the earth and had fallen into a long slumber, wishing to sleep the immortality away; too afraid to walk into the sun as his mentor had done but unwilling to go on like this anymore. For many years he had slept buried alive under the earth; at first it was painful and he almost attempted to crawl his way out but it wasn’t long before his body began to stiffen and mummify and his mind was thrown into an unconscious haze. Being close enough to the surface, he could occasionally hear the cacophony of voices and movement through his sleep as the church was eventually found and made into a museum of sorts.
Nearly three hundred years after he had decided to give up and bury himself alive, and several years after the church was found, he was found by researchers as they had realized there was more to be discovered about the church. Underneath the church and several feet down they found his mummified body, surprised someone had buried someone here without so much as a coffin or way of preservation and to find the ‘corpse’ in surprisingly good condition. His body was dated back roughly to the year he was born and he was deemed an amazing find. His body had decayed, a mostly skeletal corpse with exposed bone and bites of flesh, bones set in place and hair virtually gone, clothing rotten and overall a grotesque and very believably dead image. He was later taken to a new museum where the remains of the church had been taken after the ground underneath had been excavated and that is where he spent the next several years in a glass case for all to see. However, one day exactly fifty years ago to date, he was awoken. One of the museum employees, a night worker who had just been hired was making his rounds on his first night and when he came across the room Draven’s body was in, he became a little too curious. Being young and with the ego that now that he was a security guard, he could get behind the warning ropes about the displays and get a closer look, he had the idea to do just that. When he came upon Draven’s case he, being a young and dumb male as he was, wanted to have the bragging rights of touching a three hundred year old corpse and so he found a way to lift the glass off the top of the case just enough to slip his hand through. When he did, he sliced his hand open on a rough edge of the glass as the display case was old and in much need of an update. Cursing in pain, the young man flailed his newly opened and deep wound about in a panic, splattering blood upon the class and unfortunately for him on the ‘corpse’ as well. When he realized it had gotten on the corpse and he could get into serious trouble when it was found out to have been him that broke into it, he went about trying to clean it off. Though, all he managed to do was effectively smear the blood about the supposedly dead young man’s face. When the substance ran over his lips, sinking into his slightly parted lips, it caused a reaction and his lips moved in response. Too busy trying to clean up the mess that would no doubt get him fired, or worse, the boy didn’t notice as the corpse slowly reanimated, lips parting further to catch the blood before the hunger hit his tongue and in his subconscious state, Draven’s desecrated form moved, baring the fangs hidden just under his thin lips. He sunk his fangs into the flesh just barely touching his lips, earning a scream from the startled boy who tried to yank his hand free but the starving corpse held on, skeletal arms reaching up and snatching for the security guard’s form, drawing him close and greedily drinking from him. The man’s screams caught the attention of the other guards in the museum at the time and they came running into the scene to bear witness as the reanimated corpse tore into the flesh of their co-worker. They too tried to flee out of fear but with his new found strength, the more lively vampire had closed the distance between the doors before they could reach them and restored himself to his previous appearance and strength by draining them both dry. Confused as to where he was, completely nude and covered in blood from the sloppy meal, the young man walked out of the museum, taking with him an old painting which he had done so many years ago and which he had to break out of a case to retrieve and effectively giving those that witnessed him leave, a scare they would carry to their graves.
After this, he set about reacquainting himself with society and the changes that took place while he was asleep. At first, he was very lost as it was like waking in a completely foreign world, everything from the clothing style to the manner in which people spoke and communicated and especially the technology was entirely different from the way he remembered it. With much difficulty and shock after learning how long he had actually been asleep, he managed to learn of what had happened in those three hundred years and how to blend in with this time. At first he hated it, he didn’t take the drastic changes very well and was overwhelmed and even tempted the idea of digging himself another grave as that desperate loneliness that drove him to do it in the first place came back full force. Over time, that loneliness turned to anger and hate and gradually, Draven completely changed from who he used to be so long ago. He took his mentor’s lesson and twisted it completely around, becoming enticed by the new generations as they came and especially the dark scenes of it all. Having spent so long asleep and still having all of that pent up emotion from beforehand had really warped Draven’s personality and his view of the world which only became darker and darker as the years went on. In a way, he was and still is acting out in response to feeling betrayed by his mentor.
Draven has since traveled away from the museum he was kept in and has been around Europe and the United States, simply ‘enjoying this extent of his human life’, and doing whatever it is he wants and trying to fill that void with things he would have shuttered at just the thought of three hundred years ago. Having learned of Collision Falls only a few years ago and becoming instantly curious about the place from all the rumors about it, he decided to check it out. He came to like the place and after visiting several times over those few years, he has made the decision to stay. Probably not permanently but he wouldn’t mind settling down in a place like this for a while and enjoying what the city and its people have to offer.
