EXTRAORDINARY COLLISIONS
THE SPECIES
The Vampires
These students are the lovely blood suckers. If you wish to create one of these lovely vamps, you need to decide which type you want. Will yours be a "born" vamp? Or a "made" vamp? If it is made, and you intend to be a student, then understand it must be newly made. Meaning, no more than two or three years old - vampire wise. A student who has been made is usually still getting used to the perks and drawbacks of being a vampire. They often don't know their own strength, dealing with the hunger, and such things as that. A vampire who has been born, however, has dealt with these issues all of their lives, so they usually have pretty good control over themselves. These two breeds of vampires are very similar, with only a few differences. Vampires here do have fangs. They are retractable much like the ones in The Vampire Diaries and Blue Bloods.
Vampires that are born have a heartbeat since they are technically living, and age just as a normal human would. However, they can decide when they stop "aging" if they want to stay in their teens forever, they can. If they want to reach their twenties or thirties, they can. Rarely do born vampires age past the fifties though it does occasionally happen. However, once they decide to stop aging, that's it. They can't turn the clock back on (except with the help of a witch/wizard...but few are willing to help as it is a very complicated spell, and only the most powerful ones even know it.) so if they decide to shut it down they better know what they're doing, especially if they aren't past twenty yet. These vampires have several abilities that set them apart from humans. They are very strong and fast, and have incredible reflexes. They can heal incredibly fast, almost instantaneously. Most of them can control people with their minds (please note that this is extremely illegal, so if you choose to do this, better not get caught.), but there are ways to protect oneself from this, and only vampires that have reached adulthood are capable of doing it in the first place. These vampires have only a few weaknesses. They can of course be staked, but only a stake made of wood will be fatal. Anything else will just piss them off. Fire, if left long enough, is fatal, but otherwise is just like any other human. When touched by direct sunlight, they do burn and even die if they can't escape it, but they can have a ring or other type of jewelry fixed by a witch or wizard to protect them, and that is a very simple spell, even a beginner witch can do it, so they aren't difficult to come by. Decapitation is, of course, fatal...although you still have to watch out for the first 15 seconds, because it takes that long for the body to realize it's dead. A really old vampire might even survive being staked if it is removed soon enough. Another common issue some vampires have, is that they can not enter another species' or human's home without invitation. This include other student's dorm rooms...but vampires shouldn't be in the dorm of another house so this shouldn't be a problem on campus with the exception of any vampiric teachers.
Vampires that are made do not age at all. Whatever age they are when they are turned is the age they stay for the rest of their life. They have all of the same abilities and weaknesses, except that ANY direct stake to the heart, not just wood, will kill them.
So how does one become a vampire? It's very simple actually. In order for a human to become a vampire, a vampire must drain them almost completely of blood. The human will lose consciousness, and their heartbeat will slow until it is almost nonexistent. At this point, the vampire may feed them their blood. It doesn't take much, only a few drops, but that blood will mix with the remaining blood and will begin the transformation. The human will eventually wake. Upon waking the human will experience a horrible burning in their throat, and an intense hunger in the pit of their stomach. They must take human blood before the transformation will be complete. This blood can be from a blood bag, or from an actual human, but the new vampire MUST drink some blood before the transformation is complete. However, it is important to note that if the new vampire does not drink human blood within twenty four hours, they WILL die, and it will be an extremely painful death. Their insides will feel as if they are on fire, and the pain will continue until they either feed, or die.
Occasionally vampires will form a blood bond with another person. The blood bond originates from the vampire and other person drinking each other's blood one after the other, or at the same time. Blood bonds can do a few different things. If the vampire and the other person (human or supernatural) have any sort of feelings for each other, those feelings are magnified. Not only that but the vampire may be able to feel the emotions of the other and the other may be able to feel the emotions of the vampire. Because of this, if an emotion is felt strongly enough in one, it can transfer over to the other and make the other feel calm, angered, happy, etc. Blood bonds only last as long as the two continue feeding off each other, once a week at least is the norm. After prolonged absences of not feeding off of each other the blood bond can start to disappear and the feelings will eventually fade until they can no longer feel each other's emotions. However, there is a bad side to the blood bond in which if one of the participants in a blood bond were to die the other one would feel emmense pain for quite awhile. Sometimes this pain even lasts until another blood bond is created.
The Shapeshifters
These students can shape-shift into animals at will. Now, before you get all excited, understand that each character can only become three animals. The three animals that they can become are completely up to you, but there can only be three, and once you have chosen them they cannot be changed down the line, so choose wisely.
Once you have chosen your three animals, you are free to become those animals at anytime you wish, with a few exceptions...one being when you are in class. You must remain in your human form at all school functions (class, lunch, any social events, etc. We can't have a bunch of animals running around the classrooms now, can we?) and you must not shift when in view of a human. Humans aren't supposed to know any of these species exist, so if you go walking down a crowded street and shift right there that would kind of be a give away. But aside from that, just about any other time you can do what you want...long as it's legal.
Now, on to the shifting. It's a gradual change, bones shift and etc, you can feel/hear it but it doesn't hurt - unless it's involuntary. That hurts. The main cause of an involuntary shift would be super heightened emotions (anger, sadness, jealousy, etc. Basically any negative emotion.) In these instances, the animal basically takes full control and can rip out of it's shell. It's more of an explosion than a shift. The rest of the time, it is a fairly painless process. The more they do it the less time it takes. It never takes longer than a minute unless they are JUST learning it. Their first shift takes a few minutes as the pain of the first shift can be a bit excruciating. After a few years of shifting, it is really simple and should only take the shifter 10-15 seconds at most. If they started at age 13, by 18 they can do it that quickly. Until that point, it takes 20-30 seconds on average. Once they reach adulthood, their shifting becomes basically instantaneous. If they are walking, within their next step they could be their shift. And for those that wonder, yes, they do keep their clothes. Makes things much simpler, doesn't it?
When in their shift, they CAN communicate with other shifters, and even other non-shifters, through telepathic thought. They can control who can hear them, and who can't. However, if trying to communicate with a wild animal, you can only communicate with those that are of your same species. For example, dogs can communicate with other dogs, but not with cats. Not too complicated I don't think. You can however, communicate the same as all animals do in the wild. Body language, verbal tone and etc. We can't "communicate" with our pets, but majority of the time we "understand." The same applies when in your shift.
Also, shifters can take advantage of their animal's strengths. For example, if you have a wolf shift, and are trying to track down another person, you can "shift" your sense of smell to match that of a wolf's. Therefore, allowing you to track down whatever it is your tracking. *Note: you can only increase your senses proportionally to that of your animal. If you have a cat shift, you can use that to jump higher maybe? But you can't jump up to a sky scraper. Be reasonable.
The Wizards
Wizard-kind are humans born with the ability to use magic. A male is of course a wizard while females are witches, though "wizard" is sometimes used as a gender-neutral singular noun like "man". Magical ability is an inherited trait usually passed from parent to child. Wizard life expectancy is between 150-200 years. Some can live longer, if they figure out how too. They can perform spells, make potions, and other wizard-like gifts. They may have ONE companion animal, whom they and only they can communicate with. Communication is more like understanding how the other feels, etc. Not having actual full length conversations. Otherwise, your witch or wizard wouldn't really need to meet anyone now, would they? It may be a small domesticated animal. This includes small and medium breed dogs, any domestic cat, and any domestic rodent or *harmless* reptile (no poisonous animals.) If you are not sure on the pet your wizard will has or having trouble choosing one, then feel free to ask an admin and we will let you know.
In childhood, wizards and witches may exhibit random bursts of magic, called accidental magic, which are honed and controlled as they progress in maturity. To perform controlled magic, almost all wizards/witches need to use a wand, although the skill of wandless magic may be mastered in later life. Wands can only be bought once the wizard has enrolled into a school.
The Specialists
These students are basically human, except that they all have a few special gifts. Some can control water, others electricity, some have super speed, or control over plants. Pretty much any sort of "super power" you want, but only one. But, once you choose your main ability, then you can choose two "minor" abilities, but each must have something to do with your first one. For example, if you chose to be a Pyro, then obviously your main ability is to control fire. You could then choose two minor abilities, one perhaps the ability to create flame, and the other to have an abnormally high body temperature so that you never get cold. Or something similar. However you could instead of creating fire you could have it so you can control the temperature around you, or heat something up. These are just some examples, there is pretty much any number of things you can do within most gifts.
These gene to be a specialist is most often passed down from parent to child, much like wizardry, however there are a few points to remember. Just because the parents are both specialists, does not automatically mean the child will be, there is always the slight possibility that it will be a normal human. They also are unlikely to have the same powers as the parents. Yes, the gene is transferred, but the power is unique to the individual and is most often linked to their personality somehow. Also, there have been rare instances where humans with non-specialists parents have developed specialist powers, but these instances are few and far between. Majority of the time the minor abilities manifest as a child grows, usually the all three possible abilities available to them by the age of thirteen. The gifts usually arise as the child needs them, so as an example, we'll go back to the Pyro mentioned before. If the major ability is to control fire, and the minor abilities to control body temperature, and control the heat of something, then perhaps as a child they were giving a hot chocolate or something similar that was too cold, and without thinking they were able to heat it up to where they wanted it. Or, if as a child they were out camping, or got lost in the winter time, then perhaps their body just "magically" maintained the correct temperature so they were never cold. There are all sorts of ways you can go with this, just try to be creative. as a child grows, usually the all three possible abilities available to them by the age of thirteen. There are all sorts of ways you can go with this, just try to be creative.
The Hybrids
Hybrids are those that are half and half. Majority are half vampire, or half shifter, or half...whatever you want really...as long as it's one of the other five species. Hybrids are generally looked down upon. They are the social outcasts as you might say. Each type of hybrid has different pros and cons, and by breeding different things together you get different outcomes. A Hybrid gets some of each of it's species characteristics. For example, a vampire-x-shifter will still survive off of blood, but won't be harmed by sunlight. However, they will only be able to choose one animal to shift into. If you are wanting to create a hybrid, make sure you half each species' abilties/gifts and combine them together. The Admin accepting your application will tell you if you need to add more or take some off. Just do as they say and you'll be fine.
The Humans
The humans of course, are just humans. Majority of them know nothing about what happens up at Collision Falls Academy. They think it is a private boarding school full of rich kids. While this assumption isn't far from the truth, it isn't exactly spot on either.
Many of the humans living in Collision Falls have lived in this town for generations, and most know of the legends that surround the town as well as the school, but so far as they know, that's all they are - legends. Very few of the locals believe in those horror stories any more.
You are welcome to play a human, and even interact with the other species as they come to mingle in town, however, beware the consequences. If you wander into Falls Alley or The Underground, which is certainly possible, you're likely to be eaten.
Also, please understand that there are ways to change your human into a supernatural. If you would like this to happen, please contact an Admin and we will give you your options.
In The Application...
Once you have decided what type of character you want, you should be very detailed in your application. If you want a vampire, you should specify if it's born or made. If you choose a shifter, then you should explain which three animals your character can become, and how they affect your character. If you choose a specialist, please be VERY specific about what gift(s) your character has and what their weaknesses are, maybe how they found out about each one. If you choose a wizard, let us know how far into their magical ability they are. Basically just be as descriptive as possible about your character and you should be good to go.
Your loving admins, NeverLand and Summer
