Veronica’s first assignment in Collision Falls had been a test. It started off simple. Go after a vampire that had been exposing himself to humans in the area. It took a couple days to actually find him, and then came the studying. She watched his movements. How he acted, what he looked for in his victims, who he hung with. These were all the common things to look for. And after about a week of study, Ronnie was pretty sure in how this was going to go down. He went after the weak and easy. Drunken girls were his forte. This led her to being in the park at near midnight, acting like she was drunk off her ass. She was currently staggering across the park giggling every couple seconds to play off one of his most recent girls.
She was so glad there was no one around. She hated acting like this. This wasn’t her at all. This was the complete opposite. Even the clothes were off. Sure, the shirt was all right, she was able to easily move in it. But the jeans were just a tad to tight. She wasn’t able to hide anything in the pockets without them being easily seen. Thank god for her boots though. Each boot carried a wooden stake. It didn’t make them look weird and she was still able to walk super easily. She ran a hand through her hair as she came to a bench and sat down. She leaned her head back, exposing her throat as she closed her eyes. She was still super conscious of the area, but the smile suggested otherwise. One of her hands went to her neck and started tracing over the pendent that rested there. It was a special present that was infused with a little safety feature that made compulsion on her not possible. It was also her mothers. She had found it with the note her mom had left. And it never left her neck since then.
V heard the light footsteps coming behind her before the voice reached her ears. “What’s a girl like you doing out here alone at night?” The voice all but purred into the air. Ronnie opened her eyes and let out a giggle, that sounded so fake to her own ears but knew it was convincing when the vampire smiled, before looking at him upside down. She gave out a shrug. ”Doesn’t the air feel so nice? That club was so hot.” She ran a hand through her hair again and stood up, she staggered on her feet before gripping the back of the bench. She let out another giggle. ”Oops. I’m a little drunk.” She paused and acted like she was trying to stand up straight again before speaking again. ”What are you doing here at night?”
The vampire seemed to pause for a moment before looking back towards where the sound of a club could be heard just barely. But it was probably louder to him. “I saw you stumbling out of there and had to make sure you were alright. Wouldn’t want anything happening to you.” Ronnie could just see the tips of fangs when he smiled, but she had to act like she didn’t see anything. She grinned and covered her hand with her mouth before laughing again. ”That’s actually really nice. Perhaps you can help me home?” She was giving him an easy in. And she hoped it wasn’t too off. But the vampire seemed to like that idea as he was walking closer to her. He wrapped an arm around her waist and Ronnie had to resist the urge to recoil away from the action as she grinned at him dopily. “Sure thing sweet cheeks. Let’s get you home.”
They started walking through the park, and Ronnie made sure to stumble every once in awhile. As the vampires phone started going off, he took it out of his pocket and looked at the screen. He stopped walking and dropped his arm from around Ronnie’s waist. For a split second she thought her plan was screwed over before he started talking. “I have to answer this. It’s one of my buddies. It’ll only be a moment.” He gave her what was supposed to be an apologetic smile, but Ronnie could definitely see his fangs now. She nodded happily. And he stepped a few feet away and turned his back to her.
Automatically she let the smile drop and glared at his back for a moment before dropping down to her boot and pulling one of the stakes out of the side. As she stood back up, she heard him say something about a drunken girl and the park. She put her hands behind her back and waited patiently. When she saw him start to hang up her phone, she started smiling again at him. He turned and looked back to her, she didn’t really register the fact that he had quickly glanced over her head. “Now. Where were we?” He stepped closer to her, and Ronnie could see his face start contorting, as his eyes grew darker. When he went to reach for her, she acted quickly. Within seconds she had whipped the steak out and had the tip pressed to his chest. ”Make one more move and it’ll be your last.” The smile dropped from her face as she stared at him. She had seen some other vampire with him before and before she did anything she wanted answers on them.
She saw the shock pass through his features for a second before he was grinning at her. “Are you sure about that?” Within seconds she felt an arm grab her arm from behind. The force behind the grip made her drop the steak and watch it fall to the ground softly. She went to turn and try to get out of the grip on her arm, but the vampire in front of her was gripping her neck. Her eyes widened for a split second before they faded back to neutral. “A hunter? Haven’t come across one of those in awhile. Who sent you?” Ronnie kept her lips in a firm line and stared him down. Like she’d ever actually tell him. He gave a hollow laugh and nodded to what she assumed was another vampire behind her. “Search her for any other weapons.” Her assignment held tight to her neck, just letting her breath, before his other hands wrapped around both of her wrists. She felt the other one start patting down her sides and legs and when he found her last steak, she bit the inside of her cheek and internally cursed herself for letting her guard down. What the hell had she been thinking?
The other vampire walked around into her line of vision as he held both steaks in each hand. The one holding onto her grinned at her. “I’m surprised. Not even one sound.” His grip tightened on her wrists and she let out a gasp as she could feel the pressure on her wrists. Just a little more and she knew she’d have broken wrists. But it seemed that noise was good enough. “Ahhh. There it is. Now tell me who sent you before I break your pretty little wrists and drink you dry.” His words came out lispy as his fangs slipped out and his eyes darkened.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
