MATTHEWscottATHERTON
VAMPIRE
Maybe our relationship isn't as crazy as it seems.
Maybe that's what happens when a tornado meets a volcano.
All I know is I love you too much to walk away though.
Come inside, pick up your bags off the sidewalk.
Don't you hear sincerity in my voice when I talk.

PERSONAL INFORMATION
NICKNAME:: Matthew or Matt
AGE:: 17
GENDER:: Male
OCCUPATION:: Student
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION::
Matthew Atherton is played by: Nick Roux. Your first glance at Matt wouldn't really make anything about him stand out. But a second glance might. Matt looks like your average teenager with dark brown hair, that can get lighter the more he is exposed to sun, and brown eyes. His complexion looks pale with just the tiniest bit of a tan to it. Of course this tan isn't real as he actually can not tan. This is just due to his background. Since these features don't really stand out in a crowd, his 5'10" height is what would make him noticeable. He almost might get some glances due to the fact that although he looks lean, he does have muscle definition, especially in his stomach and arms. His hair might get a glance as well as it is usually always styled in that messy looking way. It's shorter on the sides as it is on the top, although the top is pretty long and when not up can easily cover the tips of his hair. If he hasn't gotten his hair cut in awhile, he'll usually let it grow out to right past his ears before needing to cut it.
As for clothes, Matt is pretty relaxed. He’ll usually just wear jeans, not overly skinny or baggy. For shoes he’ll end up wearing whatever the occasion calls for. Anything from boots to converse to dress shoes to sneakers, it really doesn’t matter. Shirts are basically the same, most of the time he'll pair a shirt sleeved shirt with some kind of jacket or he'll end up wearing shirts with longer sleeves. He just feels more comfortable like this. He’ll wear anything so long as the whole outfit goes together. He tends to stay away from neon or bright colors as he is in favor of the more neutral colors. Matt tends to get clothes that aren’t too expensive, but not too cheap either. He goes for the medium range and he tries to stay up with fashion, but when he finds something he really likes, he’ll stick to it.

GENERAL::
Matt is one of the few people in his family that actually likes to associate himself with other races and even hybrids. This is thanks to his actual parents that made sure to implant in his head the idea that it didn’t matter what a person was. All that mattered was how they acted. And Matthew made sure to follow that. Anyone that he didn’t see picking on another, easily became someone he could talk to. He has a strong caring side and will help anyone that needs help. But at the same time he is careful. He knows when he shouldn’t get himself involved, or should back out of it. He doesn’t want to die. His social behavior is easily accepted as he is also someone who can make someone feel comfortable around him by trying to get them to smile or laugh.
Although Matt is a good kid, there are some parts of him that have gotten him into some sticky situations. He is a fighter, if someone starts one that is. He isn’t one to throw the first punch, but as soon as that is thrown he’s all in. He’s not going to get his ass kicked by not putting up a fight. And he’s been in quite a few so it’s not something that is new to him. He is also very impulsive and will act on things without a thought sometimes. Sure he starts thinking about if he should’ve done what he did later but it doesn’t always stop him. This doesn’t help that he is also compulsive and if something is really interesting to his, his first instinct is the impulsiveness.
Matt can also be quite stubborn and if there is someone telling him not to do something, or to leave, he’ll kick up his feet and stay or do what they told him not to. He doesn’t like being bossed around. He’ll leave when he wants to leave and do what he wants to do. This has put him in harms way more times than he can count. This goes hand-in-hand with him being foolhardy as he will be recklessly bold in situation where he shouldn’t. But that was what got him his first boyfriend and blood bond. And he wouldn’t take it back. He does know when he has to be discreet and hides things that he really shouldn’t hide.
When in relationships, Matthew is the kind to lead the relationship, but also listen to the other. He wouldn’t want to push someone he likes, or may end up loving, into doing something they don’t want to do. He is really affectionate and does like hand holding, small kisses, holding the other, and wrapping an arm around their shoulders or waist. As for what he likes, well, Matt is gay. Now, he does think girls are pretty, but he just can’t ever see himself with one. And he’s only ever had three boyfriends, his first the one that lasted the longest.

HISTORY::
Ben and Kathryn first met when they were just six years old. From a young age, their parents had wanted the two to grow up together and to end up getting married. And for the two vampires, life couldn’t of been better. They got along fantastically. Sure there were the occasional fight over a certain toy when they were young, but as they grew up they were almost too difficult to keep apart. This was perfection in their families’ eyes. There was nothing that would tear the two apart. But there was something that would tear them from their families. Growing up, the two would see how their parents treated others that weren’t of the same species. They treated shifters as dirt, humans as nothing but food, and specialist as creatures who shouldn’t even be alive since they were too close to humans for it to be comfortable. The only other species they tolerated were the witches and that was only for the sake of the witches making them the daylight rings, which they wore upon their fingers.
But as soon as hybrids entered the social class, everything went into an uproar. They two young lovers were pulled from their school and put into a school that only accepted purebloods. At first, the vampires were okay with this. After all, they had been taught to never mix and mingle with the other species in that way. But as they aged and they started really looking at the hybrids, they realized they weren’t that much different. In fact, they were almost better and Kathryn started to wonder if that’s why her parents didn’t like them. The hybrids that were crossed with vampires and something else had the immortality as well as that extra boost of something else. Who was to say if hybrids actually started getting control? But when Kathryn brought these matters to her parents she was met with yelling and arguments. The only person she could really talk to this about was Ben. Ben actually had the same thoughts as Kathryn. When they realized both sets of parents didn’t care for their thoughts on hybrids, they hatched a plan.
For the rest of the time until they graduated high school, the two lovers kept their thoughts to themselves. They’d nod along to what their parents had to say about hybrids, but they wouldn’t voice anything on the matter. By the time the two were in their 20s they were getting married. It was at their wedding that their true thoughts came to light. Some of the wedding attendees were hybrids that they had happened to meet while out and about town. And of course when their parents found out they were livid. The families both cut off their children and refused to take any part in any of their lives. For Ben and Kathryn, things couldn’t of been more perfect. They no longer had their parents breathing down their backs and questioning every little thing the two vampires did. Loving the fact that their parents were no longer trying to control them, the two moved to a small town known as Collision Falls where they knew that hybrids were actually being tolerated. Of course there was a nearby school that didn’t like hybrids, but they weren’t refused there.
It was around this time as well that Kathryn surprised Ben with great news. She was pregnant and carrying a baby boy. Ben couldn’t have been happier to find this out. They were finally happy with where they were in their lives and where they were headed and now they were bringing another life to the world. They never told their parents of the baby, why would they? They wouldn’t want their parents associating with their son in any way. Finally in the summer, little Matthew Scott Atherton was born. Matthew was probably everything they could’ve wanted in a song and the two new parents were absolutely sure that they were not going to raise him with any hate towards others. They wanted their son to be accepting of anyone and everyone. From a young age, they taught the little boy this. They never let him badmouth anyone or anything. And luckily they didn’t have to worry. Their little son was actually really good. He’d be the boy that helped up the little girl that was pushed down by the other boys. But this also started to result in fights.
Matt was never the one to start fights, but he would always fight back. It was all right when he was young, he didn’t yet have the strength and blood lust he’d have, as he got older. But as a kid who had yet to drink blood for the first time, it didn’t affect him. Besides the fighting that he would get into when protecting others, Matthew was a good student. He didn’t get into trouble in the classroom and because of this, he was never really suspended. He would get detentions for the fights, but teachers started realizing that he was just protecting those that the bullies were picking on. It was around the age of 11 that things started changing for the young boy. He’d find himself craving the oddest things. Things normal people shouldn’t be craving. Of course at this time, his parents pulled him out of regular education and enrolled him in a school for the supernatural. They had never hid what they were from the young boy, but he had just thought that his parents were different. They had thought that he really wouldn’t understand and they didn’t want him spreading it around the normal school.
But when he started getting the cravings for blood, they decided enough was enough and it was time to sit him down and really talk about vampires and the supernatural. So they did. They explained everything and anything. It took the whole weekend for the boy to really understand exactly what he was and it wasn’t cemented to stone until he realized that his parents actually had been feeding him rare steak and other items that had blood in it. His cravings had been dulled the entire time. But as he grew he needed more to fully sustain him. Luckily, that was easily attainable and after a few weeks of getting onto a regular vampire diet, his cravings were mostly kept at bay. Matthew loved going to the new school. He was infatuated with the different species and what they could do. He would flit from group to group watching as they each showed each other what they could do. It wasn’t until he saw a hybrid for the first time that his wonderment grew even more. He was around the age of 12 when he met his first hybrid, a little girl who didn’t understand why people at the school picked on her. And at first, Matt would try and help her. But he soon realized that doing that resulted in him being beat up as well.
Although he would fight back, some of the older vampires and shifters were easily able to hurt the young vampire and after awhile of helping the little girl out, he stopped. He’d watch from the sidelines with a saddened face as she got picked on and ridiculed for being what she was and Matthew didn’t understand it. He’d go home to his parents and question why people were like that to such a nice girl. His parents always said the same thing, “Some people just can’t accept greater people.” His school life continued and the more hybrids started making themselves known, the more he wished he could stand up for the ones that got picked on. He just wasn’t as strong as some of the others who had already matured. It wasn’t until he was 15 that things really started to change for the young boy. It was near the end of the day when he was excused from his class to take a trip to the bathroom. By this time, he had started to grow into his body and actually started to mature and get stronger. He still had yet to stand up for the hybrids that were getting picked on, but that day in the bathroom changed things.
When he had walked into the bathroom, the first thing he had noticed was the utter chaos of it. Deep groves were scratched through the walls, mirrors were shattered, and not only those things but also the smell of blood filled the air. It was curiosity, and probably stupidity that made Matt walk further into the bathroom instead of running for the hills. It was all his negative traits combined that made him open the last stall to see a boy fighting through his shift, and what he later realized was bloodlust, in tattered clothing with scratches littering his arms. People probably would’ve thought he was suicidal for sitting down in front of the boy instead of running for a teacher. But Matt couldn’t do that. He had to help the boy that looked on the brink of insanity. Matt was able to calm down and help the hybrid, whose name he came to find out was Jaxon, gain control of himself. In the process of this though, they unfortunately created a blood bond, which Matt would learn to love and yet hate. At first it was completely accidental. Jaxon hadn't been able to control his bloodlust for too long which resulted in him attacking and drinking from Matt. This is turn caused Matt's own bloodlust, which he had been fighting against ever since he had stepped foot in the bathroom, to surface as well causing Matt to drink from Jaxon. This blood bond started a six month long relationship. It had made them become fast friends that could easily sense each other’s emotions and it even soon started to heighten Matt’s emotions for the other boy.
By the age of 15, Matt had realized that he didn’t really like girls like he liked boys. Sure, girls were nice. But they wore perfume that was so strong for his nose. A lot of them even flaunted themselves around and he found he didn’t like that at all. Of course, he hadn’t told anyone about his thoughts and he had never really ad a boyfriend so he wasn’t even sure if he would like a boy like he was supposed to like girls. But he found himself following for the hybrid despite the boy’s outbursts. With the two staying together, Matt could significantly see Jax changing for the better. The outbursts and bloodlusts started decreasing as he helped Jax to get on the right diet. And the blood bond only got stronger the more they fed off of each other. But still, Matt’s feelings were only growing. Nothing was done until one fateful day when he gave Jax his first kiss. Nothing was ever made official, but the little romance was innocent. Both never had been in a relationship before and they were so young. They were careful though. Matt had seen what had happened to some people that came out as liking the opposite sex and he didn’t want Jax’s treatment getting worse at the school. It all went well until the day they shared a quick kiss in the bathrooms during a break. The ones that caught them couldn’t resist telling everyone and from then on the two started getting even worse treatment then Jaxon was getting before.
The pranks and bullying only got worse and worse, until Matt’s and Jax’s parents were involved. Shortly after, Jaxon was pulled out of school and Matt was left to deal with it all. Luckily, his parents were very open-minded and they didn’t hate the fact that their son was gay. Sure they were upset that they would never get kids, but when Matt said there was adoption, they realized it didn’t matter and Matt was right. Of course Matt was nowhere near the age of wanting kids and he wasn’t even sure if he would want them when he grew up. He had no idea when he would stop his ageing and he didn’t particularly care about that right then. The first break from the blood bond was hard. Matt could feel all the emotions that were raging through Jax. Matt could feel the pain, how upset Jax was, his anger, his confusion and of course this would make Matt’s own confusion worse. Not only that, but the bullying seemed to wean off a bit since Jax was no longer around. It was like they no longer cared now that Matt wasn’t happy. And that made Matt. What changed the fact that he still liked boys even though Jax was no longer here? Sure he didn’t like any of the boys at his school, they were all too egotistical to like. But as Matt and Jaxon stayed separated, Matt could feel the bond slowly start to disappear with each passing day. And that was what really started to hurt the young boy. Soon enough, he had no clue as to if Jaxon was still alive; the last feeling he ever got from Jaxon was one of just pure anger and hate.
Of course, by this time Matt was losing hope that he would ever see Jax again and a part of him didn’t want too. The last feeling from him had been so strong and Matt had an inkling that that was supposed to be towards him. He didn’t understand what Jax went through in order to feel that way. Matt went on with school, and started to just isolate himself from everyone and everything. He’d come home and go straight to his room and stay locked in there. The only time his parents really ever saw him was when he would pass through the halls to go to the bathroom, when he had to eat, or when he had to go to school. Both of the Atherton’s were extremely worried about their son and were wondering what they could do to make everything better. But Matt’s personality started changing once again when Jax ended up coming back to school. He had heard that the boy had gotten in a fight the first day back and had gotten suspended and although Matt hadn’t seen him, his hope for possibly seeing the boy soon made him start to slip back into his habits of jumping from group to group.
Some groups of course wouldn’t take him. There were the ones that reminded him that he was just as lowly as a hybrid if he was going to hang out with one, and others that started isolating him from the groups simply because he had ‘dated’ Jaxon. When Jaxon had finally came back, Matthew saw this as his chance and confronted Jax with worried smiles asking about where he had been and how he was. But the smile would soon drop as Jax started telling him off. This curve ball threw Matt off. He hadn’t been expecting the hate and names coming from the other boy. And so he had stalked off like a wounded puppy. Every other time they saw each other, Matt would get a tiny bit of hope back until Jax would start cursing him and putting him down. Matt was able to take that, but when the physical fights started Matt was done. He wouldn’t throw the first punch, but as soon as that was thrown he would fight back. Matt was glad that he was quick to heal because although all the fights happened, they had yet to be caught and he knew how disappointed his parents would be in him. Matt would come home pissed though and although his parents were happy to finally see him out of his room they were still worried about what to do with their son.
It wasn’t until Jax started skipping out on school and Matt started locking himself in his room again, this time out of anger at the young hybrid and not wanting his parents to see him so angry, that his parents finally acted. Around the age of 16 his parents enrolled Matthew into Collision Falls Academy for a fresher and better start. Matt was extremely hesitant at this school. He would be completely away from home and would be living on campus. Plus, he wasn’t sure how he’d be treated. But he found CFA to be the place he really belonged. Here they accepted hybrids and he was even happy to find others that were like him in the way of liking the same gender. He was quick to befriend his roommate, and then his roommate introduced him to a few others until Matthew finally found his niche. Matthew started to become the once social boy he was before the whole Jax thing had started. And although he played it off as forgetting Jax and being done with him, there was that tiny voice in the back of his head that told him he did still care about him and wondered where the other boy was and if he was even still alive. If only Matt was to know who’d be walking into his life only a year later.
