PERSONAL INFORMATION
NICKNAME:: Lacy
AGE:: 20
GENDER:: Female
OCCUPATION:: College student and employee at A Bit O' Magic
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION::
Lacy Winters is played by: Emma Watson Lacy is pretty average for her height as she stands at 5'5". She has a very slim build thanks to eating healthy, running, and the swimming she does thanks to her shift. Her skin is more fair than tan. Her eyes are a dark brown and go quite well with her hair. Her light brown, sometimes almost looking to be a light red, hair is usually kept long and wavy. There are times when she might put it up in a ponytail, especially when working at her parents shop as she doesn't want her hair to get in the way of the potion making or baking. Lacy dresses up depending on the occasion. If she's spending the day reading at home you'll probably find her in a slightly oversized t-shirt with sweatpants or shorts on. Going out in public, she'll wear a nice blouse and jeans or a dress. At work, it's jeans and the store shirt (which is actually pretty cute, at least she thinks so). She doesn't go too heavy on makeup, maybe a light lipstick, some blush, and eyeshadow. She does have her ears pierced but doesn't think she'll get any other piercings and will definitely NOT get any tattoos.
SPECIES INFORMATION
HYBRID
Influences: Shifter and Witch
Specifics:
Shifter
North American River Otter - As an otter, Lacy has a deep brown waterproof coat that allows her body to not get too cold when swimming. Her eyes stay the dark brown that they do when she is human. Her body is about 3.2 feet long, including her tail. She isn't a very heavy otter and actually is on the lighter sides of most of them as she only weighs about 17 pounds. As an otter she can hold her breath for a little over eight minutes and can dive as far as 60 feet. As a human she can hold her breath longer than normal and can withstand the low water pressure easier if she ever dives.
Witch
Lacy comes from a very strong wizard line as he mom was the first one to not marry a wizard. Because of this, magic actually came very easily to the young girl. She is exceptionally good at performing wandless and non-verbal magic. She can summon an item from across the room just by flicking her wrist in it's general direction. Her next calling would have to be charms and this is thanks to helping her parents in the shop from an extremely young age. It is not uncommon for you to see her pulling a lot of things out of one tiny purse as most of her bags have charms on them to place a lot of objects in them without the bag getting heavy. After charms would have to be transfiguration. She enjoys changing an object and making it different. While she can perform charms without a wand, she usually uses one for transfiguration. She also has a gorgeous Snowy Owl named Alula as a companion.

GENERAL::
Lacy is a very smart girl. She strives to know as much as she can on something before going into it. Because of this, her high school experience was very limited. Instead of going out to parties like almost every other student out there, she stuck to the library or her room to read well into the late hours of the night. But it wasn’t just because she enjoyed reading and learning. She could see the look on some of the more prestigious wizards; the ones that were completely pure and their families could go back for generation. It seemed like a lot of them didn’t think she was allowed in their classes. Sure she was a witch, but was she as good as them with her magical abilities? The answer to that is actually yes. Magic seemed to come very easy to Lacy, though she never let it really show. She wasn’t a show off and if she did perform wandless or non-verbal magic in front of someone she would always make a last ditch grab for her wand least she seem like a show-off. This also makes Lacy quite skeptical. She likes to have concrete proof before automatically believing that something could be real.
Thanks to her parents owning a shop, Lacy was put to work at a young age. At first it was just tidying up the shelves and making everything look spotless. This was simple for the young girl as she was a perfectionist anyways. She liked things being neat and ordered and in their places. If everything was in its place then that made it so much easier to find when it needed to be found on a seconds notice. This lead to Lacy becoming a very hard-working individual and very focused. She likes to stay on track and keep doing whatever it is she is doing until it is completed. This also led to her being very responsible. In her teen’s years, her parents would leave the shop under her control if they would have to go to store or out on dates. Since the shop and their house above it never burnt down, it was easy to say that Lacy made sure nothing bad happened.
Lacy is also a very compassionate person. She’s the type of person to rescue a sick or injured animal and raise it until it is healthy again. This also goes hand-in-hand with her being brave. She would take a bullet for someone she cared deeply for. Of course she hasn’t ever had a real relationship, but she’d take one for her family or Alula. But even with all these good traits, do come some flaws. Lacy is very opinionated. If she doesn’t like something it will be easy to tell just by the way she acts or looks. And if something rubs her the wrong way, she isn’t afraid to say it. She isn’t short-tempered per say, but there have been times where she has snapped at someone for doing something idiotic and treating someone else not nicely. This has lead to many arguments with peers, which is another reason why it was so hard for her to have hoards of friends in school. She only has a couple of really close friends that actually understand her and don’t get put off by anything she has to say.
Although she is compassionate, she can be a bit tactless when it comes to people. She’s not very empathetic towards the emotions she has felt, i.e. depression, relationships, moving, breakups, death. But she can lie and fake it if she really has to, although it is easy to tell when she is lying as her voice gets slightly higher than normal. Apart from all of this though, Lacy is a kind girl and does have people’s best interests at heart. Even around certain people you can find her laughing or having a more playful and carefree attitude.

FAMILY::
Meredith Winters-Mother-Alive-Witch
Keegan Winters-Father-Alive-White Tailed Deer, Orca, and Belgian Malinois Shifter
PLACE OF ORIGIN:: Collision Falls
LOCATION:: Living in the town, above the shop her parents own actually.
HISTORY::
Meredith had her whole life planned out from the day she was born. She was to be wed to a wizard from a close family in order to strengthen their wizarding heritage. But as she grew up things started changing. She couldn’t find herself marrying the other boy. He wasn’t like her. They didn’t like any of the same things. Plus, he just seemed to mean. She still went along with it though and hung out with him whenever her parents demanded it. As time grew on and she reached her last year of high school, a new boy named Keegan caught her eye. He was a shifter, but he was extremely nice to her. The two got along great and could be found talking to each other about even the simplest. At first her parents just assumed that they were really good friends, which they were completely fine with, but then Keegan had asked Meredith out on a date and Meredith had accepted.
That date had gone along perfectly! And before long the two were an official item. But Meredith had yet to tell her parents. All that they knew was that their daughter had gone on a date and it was terrible. Of course that was what Meredith had lead to them believe since she knew she would get in trouble for saying that it went perfectly. It just didn’t make any sense to the young girl why she couldn’t date the nice young boy who she had met. So she went behind her parents and families back and dated Keegan. After high school ended was when things started to get difficult. Her parents wanted her to get wed as soon as possible and she still had no idea how to tell them that Keegan and her were really serious.
It wasn’t until she came home with a ring on her finger and holding onto to Keegan’s hand that everything turned upside down. Her family went into an uproar. At first they demanded that she leave him. But she was 18 now and let them know that she would just leave, that she didn’t have to listen to them anymore. And…well…that made them listen. So with grim faces, they cancelled off the plans with the other family and made plans for Keegan and Meredith’s wedding. It was a bit odd for the two to get married so young, both were only just about to turn 19, but they were truly in love. The wedding was spectacular and everything Meredith could’ve wanted, even if it was small in numbers. She didn’t care as long as her family and closest friends were there.
About a year or so later the two bought a small building next to a bookstore. It had a-three bedrooms on the second floor and the bottom was perfect for a store. It took awhile for them to come up with a name for the store that they wanted. They had already decided what they were going to sell, but the name was the most important. Finally after months of decision making, A Bit O’ Magic was born. The first few months were hard. They had to figure out what things to carry and which things weren’t that popular. It took a few years, but by the time they were nearing their 22’s they had figured it out. The baked goods that helped with health, aging, making people feel welcomed in your home, and other minor things like that were probably their best sellers to the humans of Collision Falls. That’s right. They sold magic items to humans. But the magic for those wasn’t entirely real. It was all just based off ingredients that normal humans wouldn’t use. This also went for some of the trinkets that promoted health, luck, good travels, etc.
For the more supernatural, they had a secret sort of selection. For witches and wizards, they would sell anything from special ingredients, to cauldrons, to even the occasional companion. Other species could get trinkets infused with actual magic. Things that could move on their own or changed color based on your mood or gave you more storage were the more popular ones. It was around this time that the couple decided they were ready to bring another life into the world. And so nine months later little Lacy was born. If Meredith’s family wasn’t fully supporting them by them, as soon as Lacy opened her eyes and gave them a smile, they were hooked onto the beautiful little girl.
Lacy’s early life was pretty easy. Since the shop was right below the house they were able to switch off in caring for their daughter. There was not a minute that she wasn’t with either her mom or her dad. As she grew up they started letting her come into the store while they weren’t too busy. Lacy wasn’t a destructive baby and they could set her in the corner of the shop and she would sit and watch her parents as they moved around the store organizing and restocking the shelves. When Lacy was around the age of six, she started helping her parents around the shop. At first it was the little things like handing them the items they would put on the shelves. But as she grew older and more experienced, she started to help her mom bake the cakes and cupcakes that had the special ingredients. Around the age of ten Lacy’s first real powers showed.
Throughout her young age little things would happen around her. Little glass trinkets would pop or break if she started to cry, flowers would change color if she grew to excited, and one time a table caught on fire. These were just little uncontrolled bouts of magic. But a couple days after her birthday her mom had her move some cakes from upstairs, downstairs to the shop. The first two had been carried down no problem. But on the third she tripped over the last step and the cake went flying into the air. Right before it hit the ground though it stopped and levitated before softly being set down. At first her mom couldn’t believe it. Her daughter had finally used magic! It had been unexpected, but as Lacy opened her eyes and saw the cake was in one piece she couldn’t stop the excitement as she looked to her mom.
Now she could finally go to the school where she belonged. From then on she started reading all that she could on magic, anything from the history of it to books on charms. Her mother tried to keep up with her by always giving her new books to read, and it worked until Lacy wanted to actually start trying out what she was reading. Her mother explained to her that she was a bit too young for that and would have to wait until she was able to go to Collision Falls Academy. She only had a few more years until she was of age, so she sated her hunger by reading books on the other supernaturals. She wanted to be able to know what type of species she could come across. It was at this time that she found a companion as well. Although it seemed like owls were a popular pet for a witch or wizard, Lacy wouldn’t want anything else. Owls were wise birds and beautiful creatures. After many shops and many owls, just as she was feeling that all hope was lost the shop that she was visiting had it’s owls hatching. Lacy stood by and watched as a gorgeous Snowy Owl cracked through it’s shell. And it was almost automatic that Lacy felt a jolt go through her body as she looked at it and gave a whispered “Alula”. The name meant small winged one and although the owl would grow to have rather large wings, the name stuck. From them on the pair were inseparable and when Lacy was in public, Alula could be found flying through the sky and blending in with the clouds.
Finally the day had arrived for her to go to the academy. She was 13 and was going to be living there! Of course she was really excited, but she was also really sad. She wouldn’t be seeing her parents or helping in the shop every single day. Her parents comforted her with words of new friends and finally being able to use the magic she so wanted to use. Her first year there was pretty normal. She was just using the mere basics of magic, and because she had yet to shift she wasn’t really learning anything about possibly controlling it. It wasn’t until Christmas break of her 16th year that she finally shifted.
It was an emotional Christmas to say the least. Her grandmother on Keegan’s side had passed away. And although she hardly ever saw her, the grandmother lived in a whole other state; it still took a toll on her since she never experienced death before. It was at the funeral that she shifted for the first time. As she saw the casket being lowered into the ground she was overwhelmed with this huge amount of grief. It made her hurt so much. And so when she finally started crying she could feel something inside her breaking. Bones were snapping and the pain was almost unbearable. She could’ve sworn that she almost passed out. By the time it was all over, Lacy lay on the ground as North American River Otter.
Although his mother had died, Keegan was really happy for his daughter. He was even more so excited with her when he realized they had the love of water in common. They could both swim for hours without wanting to leave the water. Of course the Orca was huge compared to the little Otter, but that didn’t stop them. So when Lacy went back to school and was able to get into the shifter classes, she couldn’t be more excited. But it seemed that not everyone was as excited for her as she was. A few of her witch and wizard friends started to ignore her. They had thought the little girl was pure, despite her shifter father, and now that didn’t think she deserved the magic. She wasn’t pure. There were some friends though that stuck by her side. And as she started taking the shifter classes, she found friends in some of them as well.
It didn’t phase the young hybrid as much as it should’ve. She just took to her studies more vigorously. And it paid off. She was one of the few of her class to successfully pull off wandless and non-verbal magic. With this she gained a little more respect, and when some of those friends that had left her in the first place started trying to be her really close friends again she didn’t let them. She told them that she didn’t need people in her life that just liked her for her success, and that they needed to like her for her. Suffice to say, they weren’t very happy about that. But life went on.
When Lacy graduated, she couldn’t believe how far she had come. She was one of the top five in wizards and in the top 15 of the whole species. It astounded her to now end. After graduation, came college. At first her parents wanted her to go to the best college they could pay for. But she convinced them to let her stay in town. She didn’t need some fancy college. She didn’t even know what she fully wanted to do. She knew that at some point she would love to take over the family business. And when she told her parents this, they were ecstatic. They helped her route out her college plan to get a business degree and in the mean time let her help out in her spare time around the shop.
Of course now Lacy get’s paid for helping and she’s also making a lot of the trinkets, baked goods, and potions, which they sell. Helping with the shop and going to college is amazing, but she can’t help but feel sometimes that something is missing. For now she keeps herself and Alula safe and sound right where they are.
