PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION::
Damon Lane is played by: Ian Somerhalder. He stands at 6'3" and weighs approximately 200 pounds. He is fairly muscular but has only slight muscle definition. He has piercing blue eyes that get dark blue, nearly black, when hungry. His hair is black and goes just slightly past his ears. It has an unkempt, scruffy look to it, when in fact that is far from the truth and in fact is just his hair style. Damon has always dressed really nice. He wears a lot of button ups and will pair it with either slacks or jeans, depending on the occasion. Sometimes he will just wear a simple shirt, but for the most, it's button ups. He prefers to wear leather jackets when going out. He doesn’t really know how it started; just that one of them was his father’s. As for colors, Damon's always had a liking to the darker colors. He's not really an orange, yellow, or baby blue type of guy but instead prefers blacks, grays, dark blues, etc. As for shoes he usually will wear some kind of boot or nice sneaker. He just basically dresses really nice and in clothes that are in fashion. He always wear his ring on the middle finger of his left hand.

GENERAL::
Damon is a lot of things. When he was younger he was the sweetest boy. He’d do anything asked of him. Sure he had a bit of rebelliousness, but he kept good grades. He almost never got in fights, and he wasn’t sarcastic. But as he grew up and his father passed away, he started changing. This change wasn’t for the best either. He started to become uncaring. Where before he would just go drink from blood banks, he found himself drinking from humans. His behavior turned for the worst and he started pushing away people that cared about him. It didn’t help that he never saw his mother grieving for his father.

Although he is very intelligent, in fact he was in the top of his class before leaving, his reckless and impulsive actions leave people questioning his intelligence. He is one to act without thinking. If someone gets harmed by something he is doing, his response would be to ignore the causality until whatever he was doing is seen through. If he does ever apologize to someone, it is extremely sincere. Apologies don’t come easy to the hybrid. Damon is extremely protective of those he deems worthy enough to care about. He’d put himself in danger just to make sure they were out of it. This is why he doesn’t want to fall in love. He fears what he would do for someone he loved. Plus, he doesn’t want to go through what his mother went through. He’d rather have hookups that last a day or two before parting ways.

As for his self-confidence, he will take on anyone, even if they are most likely stronger than him. He’s taken on older vampires and although he doesn’t always come out on top, he still tries his hardest. He knows he’s hot and he’s not afraid to flaunt it to get what he wants. Damon is arrogant to the point where he really doesn’t care for human life. They are just filled with stuff that keeps him and others like him alive. Who cares for their families they may have? He isn’t afraid to slap someone upside the head if they are being dumb, especially his students if they answer a question wrong when he knows they actually know it.

Damon is very vengeful. If someone wrongs him or hurts him, his grudge will last for years until he believes they’ve gone through more than what they put him through. If someone were to sit down and classify what problems Damon has, they’d most likely come to terms with the fact that he basically has Antisocial Personality Disorder.

HISTORY::
For Damon’s parents, it seemed to be love at first sight. The vampire and specialist went through unimaginable odds in order to be together. And after six years of dating they eloped. When his mothers father found out about this, he was furious. He ceased everything that had to do with his daughter, and only spoke to her at council meetings. But things couldn’t be better for Astronema and Alaric. Damon was born when Alaric was nearly 25 old. The three were as close as could be. Damon was such a sweet boy and would do anything his parents asked of him. He was a great student and would probably go really far in school. As Damon grew older, signs of his abilities started to show. He showed a keen liking to fire and if it wasn’t for the fact that he could control it, he would’ve been considered a pyromaniac.

At the age of 12, Damon was allowed into the Academy after his mother fighting for the Hybrids to have protection at the school as well as being able to learn how to control everything they had. Damon fit into the school really well. Although there were some families that didn’t like hybrids, he tended to ignore those and focus on the ones that enjoyed spending time with the young hybrid. His vampire nature was already pretty much under control (he hardly ever grew crazed at the scent of blood), and thanks to his family being so high up on the council; he was able to get a daylight ring. Now it was just about getting his firepower’s under control. In moments of anger, he’d find things around him burnt slightly or his hands would have flames dancing on them. But thanks to the school, he was able to control it.

Everything seemed to go smoothly for the small family. Sure, they had their moments but every family does. But of course, all good things must come to some sort of an end. Alaric was on his way home from work when he was in a horrible car accident and was killed almost instantly. Damon was the closest to his father and being at an age where having a father was most crucial to him, he started to shut himself out. He found himself drawing away from his friends and school. When he never saw his mother grieving that seemed to be the end of it and he in turn started to pull away from her as well. It probably wasn’t best that that happened, after all families need to stay close in times like this. But with his mother never grieving and Damon doing nothing but that, he found it hard to be around her. With that in mind, he started to make up his mind on something that would end up hurting everyone, even him, in the long room.

As soon as he got back from the funeral, he ran to his dorm and threw as many clothes as he could into a single bag. Without a look back, he left the school and the city. He needed to get out and away from everything he knew. It was too hard to be there and act like he wasn’t crushed by his fathers’ death. He didn’t leave a trace of where he might be going, as even he didn’t know where he was headed. But when he found himself in New York several months later and saw all the Christmas things around, he felt a tinge of guilt for at least not letting his mother know he was alive. He stopped in a card shop and found a card that talked about wishing her joy and warm thoughts on Christmas. He signed it with his initials and sent it off. No return address, nothing else minus his initials. He still didn’t want to be found.

That’s how it went every year. Every Christmas he would send his mother a card, each one with a different message that seemed to reflect his mood during that time. It was around the time that he stopped aging, as he turned 25 and had been gone for about six years that his behavior seemed to drastically change. He didn’t want to feel anymore. He didn’t want the guilt that came every Christmas. He didn’t want the loss he felt whenever he saw a family on the streets. So, after learning about a way to not feel anymore he was able to turn off his emotions. This caused him to not even care about humans anymore. He’d use them for his own needs and throw them to the side like yesterday’s garbage. Of course he’d clean up after himself. He didn’t want to get caught and be killed for leaving traces of vampire activities.

And so it went on for years. Damon was constantly moving, never staying in one place for more than several months, and leaving death in his tracks. It was about 14 years later when he came across something quite peculiar. He was walking through a graveyard, with a girl in his arms that was drained dry and dead, that he came across someone seeming to bury himself alive. It didn’t long for Damon to realize that this was another vampire, one in dire need of keeping up with the times. As Damon had been looking for a spot to bury the body he was carrying, he figured that they could make a deal. He’d help this vampire fit in. Help him forget his emotions and how to become the beast he was meant to be in exchange for allowing Damon to put the dead girl in the hole.

It seemed to work, as the next night, the two found themselves at Damon’s apartment. He was surprised to find out that the vampire didn’t have a ring, and went about trying to get him one. Things would be so much easier that way. It took a lot of talking and bribery to finally find a witch that was willing to make a ring. And as Damon produced the ring to the vampire, they finally realized just how much they might need each other. With that, Damon set to teaching him the way of the always-moving vampire. He first got the vampire up to date with the times. That was a must if they were to go out in public. They couldn’t get too many odd looks with the way the vampire looked. Then it was set to helping the other vampire not care. Not care that the lives he took might impact the people that had surrounded the person.

After all, people killed animals with little thought to what the animal’s parents might feel of it. Why not treat humans in the same way? Use them during the day and night, and suck them dry before they left. The pair became a sort of Jack the Ripper duo. And at times when Draven could get a bit careless about his kills, Damon was there to make it all right. To erase the humans minds that might have seen, or too dispose of the bodies. It was tough work, but it was worth it as Damon was able to have someone along for the travels. This went on for about 20 years before things took a turn for the worst.

They started getting sloppy with their kills and Damon could sense that things needed to change least they be found. But it seemed as if Draven liked the thrill of everything too much to want to give it up. In a last ditch attempt in wanting to protect the vampire, Damon took Draven’s ring and made a trail of death in a different direction so whoever was behind them would follow Damon and leave the other. He did feel horrible for leaving whilst the other vampire was sleeping, but in his mind he made himself believe it was for the best. But thanks to these new thoughts, he could tell that something else was starting to resurface. All his old memories that he had tried to forget about where coming back. He found himself missing what he knew best.

He wanted nothing more than to go back to Collision Falls and have his mom accept him. But he knew that she would be ashamed of who he turned into. So he set onto making himself better. Although it was difficult to hide what he had becomes, he was able to cover it was sarcasm and keeping away people who asked too much. It was when he finally arrived back in his hometown that he knew he had done something right. Some of his old friends were still there and they accepted him with open arms. Others that didn’t really recognize him stayed silent but seemed to observe from afar. He has been in Collision Falls for a few weeks now. He hadn’t sent his mother a card, and he knows she probably is thinking the worst, but he just doesn’t know how to approach her.
