sing me a song of a lass that is gone, say could that lass be i, merry of soul she sailed on a day
It was a lovely clear night, the night of the full moon. Penelope grinned as she peered out her dorm window. Tonight was the night she would finally try that scrying spell. She wasn’t very good at scrying magic, but the light of a full moon was supposed to amplify those sorts of spells. She bounced off her bed, still grinning and grabbed her closest coat. It was just starting to get cold enough at night that she needed that extra layer. She stuck her feet in her boots, and grabbed her bag full of supplies. Slinging the bag over her shoulder she opened her door and headed down the stairs.
Everyone else in the dorms was already asleep. No one noticed or cared that Penelope was going out. Locking the door behind her, she headed out of the dorms. The small redhead was practically bouncing with excitement as she made her way down the street. She always felt that way when she was about to practice magic. The delicious tingling of energy crept up her skin and made her walk even faster. The walk from the academy to the woods usual took about thirty minutes, tonight it only took her twenty.
When she reached the edge of the woods she looked around a bit to make sure she was alone. She didn’t exactly relish the idea of having to explain what she was doing to someone else. Plus if a police officer saw her, she was in for a bit of trouble. Being dragged home against her will was not something she enjoyed. Not seeing anyone else she stepped into the trees. The wind pick up a bit, messing up her curled hair. She brushed it off her face and tucked it back behind her ear. She kept walking until she made it to a decent sized clearing.
Pausing to take a deep breath, she turned her face up to the sky. Another grin broke across her face as she gazed at the moon. After a few seconds she sat down and took her bag off her shoulder. She pulled her supplies out, a glass bowl stolen from the kitchen, a bottle of water, some incense, and a few charged stones. As she was setting them up she heard a rustling from a bit away. She glanced up, wondering what it was. ”It’s probably just a raccoon or a deer.” She thought.
