According to his parents, this was Mason’s last chance before he’d be cut off and would never be apart of their family again. If that didn’t scare the young boy, nothing would. And because of this, as he stepped out of the taxi that had taken him from the airport to the academy he figured that he would try his hardest to not get any fights here, to actually do well in classes, and overall just improve what his parents wanted him to improve. But even Mason knew those thoughts wouldn’t last long. His parents would stop keeping in contact with him and Mason would stop caring. Did he really need his parents who really didn’t care for him? Probably not. But just the thought of his parents writing him off scared him a little.
As he dragged his suitcase out of the taxi and between the gates of the school, his eyes widened as he took it all in. This was definitely bigger than the ones he had been to before. Not only did the buildings look bigger, but also there just seemed to be more of them. Even with school not starting for another month there were still some students milling about. His eyes flicked over to a group of snickers he heard and for a moment he considered going over there and asking what was so funny. But as the colors of auras started really getting to him, he shook his head and dug in his pockets for his cigarettes and lighter. As he grabbed both items out of his pockets, the 14-year-old let out a sigh at what he knew the relief that would soon come would feel like.
Finally, a cigarette was between his lips and the lighter’s flickering flame caught the end of it. He breathed in deeply and exhaled just as deeply moments later. Already the colors of the auras around him seemed to fade. Mason just stood there, and smoked his cigarette as he took in the buildings around him. He had no idea where to go in order to get a dorm or his schedule for the semester starting in only a month. After a few minutes, the cigarette was finished and he smothered the end of it on a nearby trashcan before tossing it in the waste. With his future headache taken care of, he turned back to the school to plan how he was going to figure out where to go.
Figuring to just start walking, he started walking straight towards the front of the school. It would probably be the best place to start if anything. His eyes locked on the massive building in front of him and feeling a sense of unease slid over his body he froze in his place. His head tilted slightly up to stare at it with his wide blue eyes. What had he gotten himself into?
