Miles was exploring the school grounds. He was learning his way around the school. Miles was heading to the Sliverclaws dorm when he spotted it. It was a grey squirrel. The squirrel was doing nothing but minding it’s own business. It wasn’t just the two predators inside Miles that made him want to chase it. Who wouldn’t want to chase a squirrel and make it circle up a tree? The young shifter romped through the snow towards the squirrel.
The grey squirrel was sitting in the white blanket of snow at the edge of the school’s ground and the forest. It was either digging something up or burring something. It had it’s back towards the approaching teenager. Miles slowed his pace when the distance between him and the squirrel decreased. The goal wasn’t to catch the little critter, although that would be a bonus. The goal was to have the satisfaction of chasing the squirrel.
Once Miles was close enough to the squirrel he stopped. He stared at the squirrel. It was at this point where the grey squirrel noticed Miles’ presence. The squirrel stopped to look around. Miles slowly crouched lower to the ground. His stare was intense. Without any noticed Miles lunged at the squirrel. The scared little critter ran to the forest with Miles chasing after it.
Unfortunately, Miles lost the squirrel. Miles could figure out which tree it went up. But it didn’t matter. Miles had his fun chasing the fat grey squirrel. Now this would be the point where someone would go back to what they were doing. Not Miles. Instead of going back to the dorms, Miles decided it would be more fun exploring the forest. The young shifter made his own path. He would go back before dark.
