Morning were never really Steph’s thing and after become a vampire she was even less enthused by that time of the day. Yet going to school again required that she be up at horrible times for classes. She cursed Lysander and the school and finally herself for agreeing to the whole idea as she hit her alarm rather violently. Unfortunately she had forgotten about her new vampiric strength and the poor clock was now smashed. She frowned at it as she sluggishly sat up and rubbed her eyes.
 
A good five minutes later she managed to drag herself out of bed and stumble towards her closet. She grabbed a sweatshirt and jeans off her floor and changed slowly. As she was pulling on her jeans she managed to trip and fall back on to her bed. Steph was not exactly the most graceful of vampires. Everything seemed harder in the morning. She struggled into her jeans and once those were on, she looked around for a pair of shoes. Ballet flats it was going to have to be because she could not even think about dealing with socks or laces or zippers.
 
Her hair just ended up in a messy bun and she didn’t bother with makeup. It was too early for getting dolled up. Maybe she would in between her morning classes and her later ones. Though that was unlikely. Being back at school had made Steph rather lazy in terms of beauty regimens. At least her nails still looked pretty. She put her hand out to look at them and smiled. Some days it was the little things. She made her way to the bathroom, brushed her teeth and washed her face. Grabbing her backpack and her phone, she headed out the dorm.
 
The cafe was her first stop. Despite the fact that coffee didn’t really do anything for her, Steph found herself still drinking the stuff. The routine of it made her feel like she was a bit more awake. She was sure it was some sort of odd placebo effect. She turned into the cafe, rubbing her eyes in an attempt to keep them open. She wasn’t quite paying attention to where she was going and she tripped, landing nearly in some guy’s lap. ”Oh gosh so sorry!” She exclaimed as she tried to get herself into an upright position again.

[/b][/font] Just to get the point across that he wasn’t messing around he let his eyes turn a golden brown, the eyes of his dingo, as he spoke. In all honesty, he wasn’t too mad. It was too early to get as angry as he would have much later in the day. But she didn’t have to know that. He could put on a good act since he had so much experience with getting angry anyways. His eyes dropped the glare, and instead his face took on a bit of a smirk. ”So that’s a large coffee. Black. A little milk. And two sugars.” He tilted his head towards the coffee. ”Go on then, little girl.” His eyes were mocking her as he spoke in a careless way.

Owe him a cup of coffee? Sure she felt bad for tripping on to him, but owing him a cup of coffee was a bit far. If he hadn’t been so rude about it, Steph may have offered, but no the asshole had ruined his chance for dealing with nice, albeit awkward Steph. Now she was going to be annoyed and indignant Steph. Not the best side of her to deal with, especially considering how early in the morning it was. Her tolerance for bullshit was always lower in the morning.

”Really? Really? You want me to buy you a damn coffee. It was a frickin’ accident asshole.” She had gone from apologetic to enraged rather fast. This boy had just managed to push her buttons with his ridiculous arrogance. He even had the gall to call her a little girl. Which she most certainly was not. First off she wasn’t little. Second off she wasn’t young enough to be called that. She doubted she was younger than the stupid jerk in front of her.

Even if she was it would not be a difference enough to warrant such a term. ”You’re just going to have to deal with not having a coffee or you can buy yourself a new one.” She turned and walked in the direction of the counter. She was going to need an extra shot of espresso now thanks to this stupid little exchange. Her fists were clenched as she walked away.

Forget the fact that he had spilt soda on the human girl a few days, or was it weeks he couldn’t remember, his brother had bought the same girl a dress to make up for it with Chase’s own card!

He wouldn’t have done anything. It had been her fault just like it was this girl’s fault. What was it with people and spilling drinks on him or near him? First it was the human girl’s soda and now it was his coffee. Soon vampire girl was speaking again, and seconds after she got through speaking she was turning and walking towards the coffee counter. He rolled his eyes and stood up. He glanced down at his basically empty coffee cup. With a scowl he tossed it to the trash bin and watched him swivel around a second before falling into the garbage bin. With the trash taken care of, he went to the coffee counter and stood behind the girl as she ordered.

Once she was done, he stepped up and just ordered another one. But when the person behind the counter asked for $4.25, Chase’s eyes narrowed and a low growl came out of his throats. The kid, who looked to probably be a freshman, stared back at Chase with wide eyes and closed the cash drawer before telling Chase that the coffee would be out in a few minutes and payment wasn’t necessary. Chase smirked once more and nodded to him before turning away from the counter. He walked the couple steps to where you wait for your coffee and for a moment he debated whether or not to talk to the girl. Instead he just stood behind her as he waited for the coffee.

WHEN I WAS DROWNING

Steph ignored the boy as she continued on her way to the coffee counter. He was a little brat who didn’t deserve her attention anyways. Or really any attention, she thought. In fact he was more than a brat really, he was verging on the edge of being a bully. Steph was so done with bullies. Before her fame and then being turned into a vampire she let herself be pushed around. Not anymore. She was not going to let his asshole ruin her morning.

But of course he followed her to the coffee counter anyways. Steph rolled her eyes and sighed. Whatever, she could ignore him. She ordered her latte, paid for it and went to wait. She leaned on the wall, tapping her foot slightly. Usually she wasn’t that impatient but she just wanted to get her coffee and get away from the stupid boy. Finally her coffee was ready, she grabbed it, spilling a bit on the counter.

She turned quickly and in her rush managed to bump into him again, just slightly. Most of the coffee stayed in the cup this time, but a bit of it ended up on both Chase’s shirt and hers. ”Ugh have you heard of personal space?” She huffed as she moved to go around him.

[/i],”[/b][/color] he hadn’t been deaf and had just heard the person call her name with the name of the coffee she ordered, ”this time it was fully your fault. You turned into me as I stood here.” He looked her up and down. ”You are just lucky I have some restraint. Others would’ve already snapped.” When he snarled at her, part of his upper lip curled and a low growl started deep in his throat. His name was called and his eyes flicked behind her to the counter.

”Move alone, little girl. Before I really lose it.” He managed to speak that out with just a tiny bit of a growl. Maybe some people wouldn’t have been as upset as he was. But he had just had this happen to him a couple of days ago. That shirt had been destroyed by soda, and whilst the coffee didn’t destroy this one, the small droplets would still stain it. It would be a pain to try and get the stains out. A pain he’d rather not deal with which instead would result in him just tossing the shirt out. With that said he stepped around her to get his own coffee.

Steph rolled her eyes so hard when he said her name all laced with sarcasm. ”Oh really you have restraint? Others would have realized both of these were fucking accidents.” She glared at him. Steph normally wasn’t a confrontational person but had developed a bit of a bratty starlet persona to get her way. It was one of the small benefits of fame. Right now she felt like it was coming in handy. At least it was giving her confidence. Well that and her righteous anger. She nearly laughed when he actually growled. What was it with men and thinking that was oh so intimidating?

Okay admittedly if Chase, she caught his name when the barista called it, had been older or she didn’t know he was just another student she might have been more scared. In this situation she was fairly certain she could hold her own. Vampire strength and all that. Oh and then of course he had to call her “little girl” again. She was done, so very done with that and him and the entire situation. Not just this incident but everything that happened with her being a vampire and being in Collision Falls.

Unfortunately for Chase now she was going to take it all out on him. She spun on her heel and slapped him across the face. ”Do. Not. Call. Me. Little. Girl.” she ground out. She blew out the breath she had been holding in, glaring him down.

”Newsflash. Just because you’re a vampire it doesn’t mean you are at the top of the food chain here. We all have different ways of hurting of killing each other. And unlike some around here, I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty.” His voice came out low enough that the people around them wouldn’t be able to here. This was their business, none of theirs. He knew just how people could be at this school. If Peeta found out he was messing with another girl, he knew he’d be getting a talking too. But who cared? His brother only talked. He never acted.
